BALLET

A highly disciplined stage art based on centuries-old tradition of movement. Ballet develops a sense rhythm and appreciation of music. It helps to coordinate mind and body, improve poor posture and poise and promote self confidence. The basis for all forms of dance, this class will focus on technique training and barre work. The structured discipline of Ballet will help improve all aspects of a dancer's craft.

The Season

The 1st semester of the 2017/18 season begins on Tuesday, September 5th, 2017. The 2nd semester begins on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2018. The season ends on Saturday, June 16th, 2018 (the date of our final recital performance). Unless otherwise noted, classes run the entire season (September to June) provided minimum enrollment is maintained.

Fees

Initial fees are due at the time of registration. Initial fees include the first month's tuition, a $25 registration fee per student, and a $40 costume fee per student/per class (costumes are provided for annual recital performances). Future tuition fees are then due on the 1st of each subsequent month. Listed fees (tuition, costume, and registration) DO NOT include GST, taxes are additional. Families will be discounted for multiple students/classes.

Did You Raise Your Rates?

No! Per class rates have not increased. However, 2017/18 offers more overall classes than any previous season. For instance, between September 2017 and June 2018, a student attending on Friday will receive five additional classes compared to 2016/17. The end result is more classes, but a slightly higher average tuition fee (see "Equal Payment Plan" for more info). Our costume and registration fees also remain unchanged.

Equal Payment Plan

Tuition fees are processed monthly, due on the 1st of each month. Tuition fees are calculated as part of an “equal” payment plan (also known as a “balanced” or “averaged” payment plan). The registrant will pay the same fee each month regardless of how many classes are attended. Fees are calculated by determining the total cost of the season (10 months), minus all studio closures, divided equally across the 10 month period between September 2017 and June 2018. Note that all closures are subtracted prior to the calculation of fees, thus reducing the average tuition.

Costume Fee

We have experienced, professional seamstresses who do all of the work on your behalf--no sewing required! These costumes are rentals, to be worn during recital. The $40 fee covers both annual performances ($20 per recital, per class). Some classes do NOT require a costume fee (highland and adult classes, for example). Classroom attire remains the responsibility of the student.

Numbers

When multiple classes share the same name, each class is assigned a number (in brackets). For instance, Junior Ballet (1) and Junior Ballet (2). These numbers exist only to differentiate the classes on the schedule and have no impact on student placement.
